Lost in space
A downloadable game for Windows
This game was created by several iterations as part of game development courses at Charles University. Mainly, these were the courses "Computer Games Development" and "Software Project". During the development process: concepts were rethought, many things were redone, even old team members left and new peoples came in. In total 6 people worked on the game (from 4 countries!): Ondrej Čakloš, Denis Yudin, Vojta Řehák, Sebastian Prax, Radka Fléglová and Sebastian Schimper.
Each of us had to combine several roles and work on different tasks at the same time. I was mainly involved in the development of procedural generation and the physical model, later the development of the plot, quests, events and the development of all the associated user graphical interface also fell entirely on me.
So, what is the game about, you ask? This game is about survival in space. You will have to extract resources, craft the necessary things, and repair your ship. At the same time, exploring the place in which you find yourself, solving your problems and the problems of the local aliens and looking for a way to return to Earth.
It’s very easy to die here, space is not empty, time moves inexorably and resources quickly run out, so you won’t be able to stand still enjoying the surrounding beauty. Each new attempt will be different from the last, since each time the systems are procedurally generated differently.
An important feature of this game is the physical system, which combines a simulation component (inertia of object movement, gravitational attraction) and the simplifications and limitations necessary for interesting gameplay, since it would be very difficult to play a fully realistic space flight simulator.
To shade the hard work of surviving and flying in space, the game has text quests with which you can more fully interact with the planets, various aliens, and their mechanisms.
The game also contains a tutorial that will tell you in detail about aspects of the game, interface and controls. During the game, you can easily and quickly call up a small control hint, without having to go to the menu.
That's all, Commander. Have a safe journey to home!
